Italian Studies in Todi, Umbria

Travels Through Time offers a unique Italian language program called La Lingua La Vita (To Communicate is to Live). This program is provided through the Todi Language Center in Todi, Umbria and caters for students of all ages and competencies and provides the opportunity to develop Italian language skills while engaging in a variety of cultural activities. Using this approach, participants learn to read and write Italian rapidly, while at the same time gaining a real flavour for Italian culture and lifestyle.

The small class sizes of between 4–8 students ensure high levels of personalised attention. The program is very flexible and participants can choose the duration of the course, ranging from 1 week to 24 weeks, depending on the their specific requirements. Language classes take place in the morning while afternoons are reserved for cultural activities, selected by the students depending on their areas of interest. A wide variety of cultural activities are offered including archaeological tours, wine tasting, cooking classes, arts and crafts and art history to name a few.

Todi is a medium-sized hilltop town with a population of around 17,000. This makes it a wonderful town in which to get immersed in the rhythm of Italian life without being overwhelmed by large crowds and masses of tourists. On the other hand, not being too small means that there is plenty to do in the town itself and you will find no shortage of restaurants, cafes and cultural attractions to occupy any free time outside of your formal studies.

Todi is also a historically-significant town, having been founded in the 8th century BC by the Umbri Italic tribe. The town retains many buildings and monuments from Roman and mediaeval times. The views from Todi are outstanding. Being perched on a tall hill overlooking the east bank of the Tiber river, commanding distant views are available in every direction.

Accommodation in central Todi is provided as part of the program. Students can choose to stay in renovated apartments or, for even deeper immersion with the local culture, can choose to stay with families in either full or half-board arrangements.

Prices start from as little as $990 for a week of tuition, including accommodation.
